Like many other brands, HiPP’s formulas are categorized into different stages according to the age of your child. The reason behind the different stages is to reflect the infant’s nutritional needs human milk can respond to automatically. To ensure your child gets the correct amount of nutrients, it is highly recommended to feed a formula which suits the age of your little one.
HiPP develops newborn formula/infant formula, follow-on, and toddler formula to support every step of the way throughout their first years of life.
HiPP Infant formula
Infant formula is made for supporting your newborn in the very first months of life and generally comes in two stages;
HiPP PRE Formula (0-3 months)
PRE Formula is intended to be used by newborns as either their only source of nutrition or in addition to breastfeeding. This formula’s only carbohydrate is lactose, which is also the main source of carbohydrates in breast milk. This stage of formula can be given to your infant as often or as much as they need during their very first months.
HiPP Stage 1 Formula (0-6 months)
Made in Germany using milk from sustainable organic farms, HiPP DE Stage 1 provides natural, nutritious milk for your newborn. Gentle and soothing, it contains gut-healthy lactic acid originally cultured from real breastmilk. Unlike HiPP stage PRE, stage 1 formula includes organic mild starch as a complementary carbohydrate. Starch is added in addition to lactose to help make the formula more creamy and filling and which may make it better suited to hungrier babies.
HiPP follow-on formula
When you look at the list of baby formulas on the market, you will find that many of them are labeled “0-12 months”. Since their little bodies aren’t ready to digest whole milk just yet, infant formula is still an important source of all their nutritional needs. However, you might want to switch to follow-on formula, whether you are weaning your baby off of breast milk after six months or your baby needs more iron in their diet.
HiPP Stage 2 Formula (6-10/12 months)
These formulas usually have higher iron levels, often added in the form of iron sulfate, which becomes especially important for little ones beginning around 6 months. Depending on the country version of the HiPP formula you choose, the follow-on formula stages will be slightly different. For HiPP German formula stage 2 and formula stage 3 are both follow-on formulas. For HiPP UK and Dutch, only formula stage 2 is a follow-on formula.
HiPP toddler formula
Toddler formula is meant for children between the ages of 10 to 36 months. HiPP's toddler formula is based on the favorable properties of both goat and cow's milk which is naturally high in calcium. It's also enriched with important nutrients that support healthy development and growth.
HiPP Stage 3 Formula (10/12+ months)
Depending on the country version of HiPP’s toddler formula, the stages will be different. HiPP German formula stage 3 and stage 4 are both toddler formulas. Regarding HiPP Dutch and UK, formula stage 3 is intended for toddlers.
