Certain ingredients contained in sunscreen products can adhere to textiles, absorb dirt and sweat and therefore cause discolorations. When thoroughly rubbing this product into skin as opposed to just superficially applying it, this problem can be largely avoided. When skin is damp, this cream cannot be absorbed and will be transferred to fabric. These oftentimes yellow stains are best removed by soaking the fabric in citric acid (available through drugstores and pharmacies). To do so, dissolve 12g (.4 ounces) of citric acid per one liter (2 pints) lukewarm water and soak the garment for about 24 hours before laundering it following the manufacturer's care instructions. By pre-treating with citric acid, any residue will be lifted from the garment and completely removed during a normal wash cycle.
