Goat Milk Formula
Goat milk for babies
Goat milk is an ancient form of nutrition and still very common in countries all over the world. In fact, 65% of the world’s milk consumption is from goat’s milk. Infant formula made of goat milk can be a good alternative for babies with a sensitive digestive system. Since the milk has high concentrations of proteins, but the milk proteins are smaller compared to cow’s milk formula, goat’s milk makes it easier for babies to digest.
Goat milk formula for babies with lactose intolerance
Even though baby milk from cows is still the primary milk of choice for many parents in Western countries, not all babies are able to drink it due to lactose intolerance. Some babies aren’t able to digest the amount of lactose in cow’s milk. Goat milk on the other hand, has lower levels of lactose and therefore, it may elicit less reaction.
Goat milk formula should not be given to infants with cow’s milk protein allergy. In any case, we always recommend speaking to a nutritionist or healthcare professional before switching to goat baby formula.
Organic goat milk formula
Goat baby formula isn’t always organic by default. In order for a goat milk formula to be certified organic, goats must be raised on pasture that is certified organic. This requires that no pesticides, herbicides, chemical fertilizers or any other restricted materials are being used.
Nannycare goat milk formula

In addition, every product goes through up to 260 safety checks. In doing so, HiPP claims to go far beyond the requirements and international regulations on organic farming.
Goat milk formula vs cow milk formula
The difference between goat milk and cow milk is in its composition. There are a few important differences between the two. First, goat milk naturally contains a high level of oligosaccharides, natural prebiotic, when compared to cow's milk. Prebiotics help develop natural gut bacteria, and are found in natural breast milk. Prebiotics actually aren't digested by your baby's organism, but rather when consumed they help develop cultures of bacteria that "kickstart" your baby's tummy to eventually transition into eating more "adult like" foods. Baby's that are breastfed receive natural prebiotics, so it is important to consider formulas that are high in prebiotics.
Goat milk curds
The difference in composition between goat- and cow milk affects how the milk breaks down. The milk proteins in goat milk formulas form curds or milk clumps in the stomach that are smaller, softer, and looser than those formed by cow's milk. This means infants have an easier time breaking the goat milk curds down.
A2 milk
Most cows produce milk containing two types of beta-casein, called A1 beta-casein and A2 beta-casein. Both varieties of this protein are packed with amino acids and will nourish the body. A2 however, is essentially the original form of milk. During the digestive process, A1 and A2 milk get broken down differently with A2 milk being broken down by digestive enzymes more easily.
Goat milk’s protein structure is naturally A2 and better suited to sensitive tummies whereas most cow's milk contains A1 and can cause inflammation in the body. This makes goat milk formula more gentle to babies that are sensitive to cow’s milk.
