How to prepare and store

Holle infant formulas dissolve quickly and can be prepared in minutes. Preparation instructions are included in every package so it’s easy to follow along.

How to Prepare Fresh

Step 1: Boil water and allow to cool to about 50 °C / 122 °F

Step 2: Fill roughly half the bottle with boiled water

Step 3: Use the measuring spoon provided and add the correct number of scoops (1 scoop per fluid ounce of water). Spoonfuls should be flat, not heaping

Step 4: Close the bottle and shake until powder is completely dissolved

Step 5: Fill the remaining half of the bottle and shake again until the powder is evenly diluted

Step 6: Allow to cool to about 37 °C / 98.6 °F

Step 7: Squeeze a drop onto your forearm to test the temperature before feeding
How to Refrigerate and Store Prepared Formula:

Need to plan ahead and prepare some formula for later? No problem! Simply refrigerate the formula in temperatures below 41° F/5° C. Keep in mind that the longer you store, the more opportunity there is for harmful bacteria to grow. It’s always best to use within 2-3 hours of preparation.

How to Reheat Prepared Formula:

Prepared formula can easily be rewarmed by placing the tightly sealed feeding container into a separate container of warm water. Occasionally shake and swirl the feeding container to ensure that it heats evenly.

How to Store Opened Package of Dry Formula:

After opening, reseal the pouch and store in the original cardboard box, or use a sealable storage container. When stored properly, Holle Infant Milk Formulas can last up to 21 days.

I heard that maltodextrin is a useless filler. Why does Holle Stage 1 use it?

Although some internet sources suggest that maltodextrin is a useless filler/sweetener, this couldn’t be further from the truth. Maltodextrin is actually an easy-to-digest carb and is only mildly sweet. Holle uses a special type of maltodextrin that’s even slower to digest so it keeps your baby full longer.

Holle Stage 1 and Holle Pre are both for newborns. What’s the difference?

The difference is in the carbohydrates. Holle Stage 1 uses maltodextrin as the main source of carbs, while Holle Pre contains more lactose. Both are exceptional formulas and it’s really a matter of personal preference which one you choose.

What’s the difference between Holle Stage 1 and Stage 2 formulas?

Holle’s first and second stage infant formulas are nutritionally almost the same. The only real difference is the ratio of proteins. Stage 2 is designed for hungrier babies so it contains more casein protein to keep them full longer, while Stage 1 contains more whey and less casein.
