What’s the Difference between HiPP German, United Kingdom, and Dutch

By Deborah Brenna

We here at My Organic Formula hope to provide a suitable formula for every situation. Because of this, we continue to expand our formula line. We have recently added HiPP’s Dutch (NL) line of Combiotik formulas. This has sparked a lot of questions over the differences between the German (DE), United Kingdom (UK) and Dutch (NL) HiPP Combiotik formulas. As always, we are here to answer your questions. Below is an explanation of the main differences between these formulas, the reasons why they are different, and a handy table to lay it all out for you.

Why Does HiPP Make Different Formulas for Different Countries?

The simple answer to why the HiPP company changes its formula for different countries is that each country has a different market. As a business, HiPP tries to please the customers of each country’s market. The people of one country may be used to certain ingredients in their formula that other countries may not want. So HiPP makes something for everyone.

What Are the Main Differences Between The Three Types of HiPP Combiotik?

The main differences between the German, United Kingdom and Dutch HiPP Combiotik formulas is the addition of starch and probiotics.

Probiotics- HiPP adds special probiotics, like those found in breastmilk, to some of its infant formulas to help support and nourish the gut and immune system. All of HiPP’s Combiotik formulas have their special prebiotic galacto-oligosaccharides (GOS) fibers which help to support gut health and healthy bowel movements. However, only the German HiPP Combiotik and the Dutch Stages 1 and 2 formulas have probiotics.

Starch- Starch is a common formula additive, especially in formulas meant for older infants. Starches are harder for the body to break down than milk alone and therefore take longer to digest. This results in a more satisfied and fuller feeling. Some parents feel that starch is an unnecessary additive to formula, and so opt for a formula without it. However, starches are generally well tolerated and exist can be found in many table foods. Whether you choose a formula with or without starch, My Organic Formula has something for everyone. The HiPP UK Combiotic and Dutch Combiotik formulas do not contain starch. HiPP’s German Combiotik stage Pre and Stage 2 No starch also contain no starch. However, the German Stage 1-3 Combiotik formulas do contain starch.
